Forum Day & Mini Expo | TCAA Update & Financial Review
7/25/2019
2:00 PM - 6:00 PM

Event Description

Education Forum for Community Managers & Volunteer Leaders

Join us for an afternoon full of informative and educational sessions!

Session ILegislative Update: TCAA Victories; Near-Misses; and HUH’s??: The regular session of the 86th Legislature came to a close on May 27, 2019. Community associations were not overlooked for potential changes in legislation and many of the bills filed this session are repeats from the previous session. Given the bills related to religious displays, fines, developers, condominiums, chickens, guns, and lemonade stands, the finish of the 86th Legislature was no exception to excitement. Judd A. Austin, Jr, Shareholder with Henry, Oddo, Austin & Fletcher, P.C. will tell the story of what happened during Texas’s 86th Legislature and the near misses and victories that we may celebrate.

Session II - Financial Audits vs Review, What You Need to Know - Steve Tilson is a life-long Austinite. He graduated from the University of Texas with a degree in accounting in 1975. Steve spent the first portion of his career in the real estate development business and in advertising. Steve started his own public accounting practice twenty years ago with a specialization in common interest realty associations.

Steve will provide a comparative overview of audits vs. reviews; how to read an audit report, and how to select an auditor. Steve will also provide an overview of reserve studies fraud and tax issues.
